David Israel Madison was born in Memphis, TN.  His father was a pastor and longtime presiding elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, serving many churches between Memphis and Nashville, TN.  His mother is a PhD Microbiologist that has lived and worked all over the world.  However, even with such a fine pedigree as this David is still the product of a broken home.  After his parents' divorce at the age of thirteen, David moved to Jackson, TN with his mother.  This transition was one that would transform his life and deeply impact his future.  After graduating from high school, David went on to receive his Bachelor's of Business and Administration in Real Estate and Mortgage Financing from Mississippi State University in 2002.  David accepted his call to ministry and preached his first sermon during his senior year of undergraduate study in Columbus, Mississippi.  There he promised his pastor that he would go into full-time ministry. This was a promise that he vowed to keep.  It caused him to later go on to earn his Master's of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.

Upon Relocating to Houston, David served in ministry at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, "The Church at Greenspoint", under Rev, Roderick D. Dawson for four years.  During those years he served in various capacities including Youth Sunday School Teacher, Minister of Evangelism, Assistant Minister of Music and Youth Pastor.  On October 28, 2006, he was ordained an Itinerate Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church by Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram.

While in seminary in Dallas, David served under the leadership of Rev. Michael W. Waters at Greater Garth Chapel A.M.E. Church as the Minister of Music and Young Adult Pastor.  Following the same leadership, he became a founding member of Joy Tabernacle A.M.E. Church where he served as the Assistant Pastor and Minister of Worship and Arts.  In addition to his seminary studies and various church responsibilities, while in seminary he also served as the Minister of Music for the Voices of Inspiration which performed several songs he wrote personally.

Upon completion of his seminary coursework, David interned at Trinity United Methodist Church in the Third Ward under the mentorship of Dr. Robert E. McGee.  While there he served as the Youth Minister of Music to preaching, teaching and the usual internship assignments.  On June 12th, 2011, all of David's hard work, dedication and commitment paid off when he was assigned to pastor Greater Ward A.M.E. Church.  Since that time he and thc church have vigorously engaged the Acres Homes Community by partnering with entities such as The Houston Area Urban League, The Texas Organizing Project, Stand For Children, The Houston Astros, The Black Employee Network of ConocoPhilipps and much more.  The membership is growing, positive changes are being made at the church and POWERFUL MINISTRY is going forth.  As their slogan states,  They are truly "Moving ForWard!"

The culmination of over a decade of ministerial preparation occurrred on Ocober 28th, 2011, when Pastor Madison was ordained an Itinerate Elder, (the highest ordination granted in the African Methodist Episcopal Church).  In David's leisure time, he enjoys playing piano, organ, acoustic guitar and bass guitar.  He is wonderfully married to his college sweetheart, Dr. Maxine Jones Madison.
